The workplace is highly susceptible to conflict because of the interdependency of relationships and group dynamics that are involved in the daily running of a business. A workplace is made up of strong teams and within these teams there are a variety experiences, skills, values, attitudes and viewpoints.

Having a range a viewpoints and strengths within a team is very important and offers great strengths, however when these personalities clash it can be one of the main causes of workplace conflict.

When workplace conflict arises it can build and intensify but fortunately there are ways to reverse this. By understanding the issue at hand and enforcing positivity amongst staff, workplace conflict can be resolved.

Team building is one of the most successful and enjoyable ways to resolve long term conflict within a working environment. Whether staff struggle to overcome barriers in the workplace or continuously struggle with working relationships, team building provides a fun, strategy driven day of tasks and exercises that can be adjusted to best suit the needs of a team or company i.e. conflict.

There is generally one main goal to team building: to improve current relationships and conflict as well as to provide strategies to assist in overcoming any sort of issues within the workplace.

Keltram offers an array of physical, mental and strategic indoor and outdoor exercises that allow teams to interact on a social level with an end goal in mind. Teams are required to work together to achieve this goal. This gives teams and individuals a chance to experience and touch on a number of different areas that are so important in maintaining healthy working relationships.

  • Communication
  • Honesty
  • Trust
  • Listening
  • Strategising
  • Sharing of ideas
  • Working together
  • Helping each other
  • Identifying each other’s strengths and weaknesses
  • Patience for others

These aspects do not fall into place over night, but team building lays down a foundation upon which staff and teams as a whole are able to work on improving their own personal issues. This in turn will certainly assist in resolving conflict. Although team building is something fun for companies to partake in, it also provides valuable lessons that should be incorporated into the working environment.

When staff use the skills that they have learnt, conflict, communication and other areas are easier to resolve, making the workplace a more enjoyable place to be.
